Aligners and the cross-bite problem: Treatment of Crossbite from childhood to adulthood.

Mordida_Cruzada_2025

This comprehensive course will address the treatment of crossbite from a complete perspective, analysing its management from infancy to adulthood, and covering cases ranging from the simplest to the most severe.

The programme will focus on:

Differential diagnosis: We will learn to identify whether it is a functional, dental or skeletal crossbite, as a key step in establishing an appropriate treatment plan.
Treatment with aligners: We will explore interceptive treatment strategies, how to approach expansion with aligners and their efficacy at different stages of growth.
Combination with advanced devices: We will review the use of skeletal disjunctors in combination with aligners for more complex cases.
Orthognathic surgery: We will discuss its role in cases of severe crossbite in adult patients.
This course is designed to take place over the course of one day, offering attendees innovative diagnostic and therapeutic tools to solve the crossbite problem with confidence and precision.

A day full of learning to perfect the management of this orthodontic challenge!

  • Early treatment (primary and mixed dentition)

  • Adolescent treatment

  • Adult treatment

  • MARPE/BAME

  • Orthognathic surgery

  • Clinical cases

Objectives

  1. Understand the multifactorial nature of crossbite: Identify and differentiate the types of crossbite (functional, dental and/or skeletal) and their impact on occlusion and facial development.
  2. Refine diagnostic skills: Acquire advanced knowledge to make an accurate and personalised diagnosis in patients of different ages and degrees of severity.
  3. Master the use of aligners in cross-bite treatment: Learn protocols and techniques for cross-bite correction using clear aligners, from interceptive treatment to complex cases.
  4. Explore the integration of advanced devices: Analyse the combination of aligners with skeletal disjunctors in advanced expansion cases.
  5. Incorporate orthognathic surgery in cross-cutting management: Understand when and how to integrate orthognathic surgery in the treatment of severe crossbites in adult patients.
  6. Apply a comprehensive clinical approach: Design personalised treatment plans that address crossbite from childhood to adulthood, ensuring optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes.
  7. Optimise treatment efficiency: Acquire tools and strategies to improve predictability and results in transversal cases treated with aligners.
  8. Encourage continuous professional updating: Promote the use of current technologies and methods in the management of the transverse problem, aligned with the best practices of modern orthodontics.
